Recording Secrets For The Small Studio - Additional Resources

Below is a selection of backing-stem packages, based on some of the more popular multitracks from the ‘Mixing Secrets’ Free Multitrack Download Library, which can be freely downloaded for the purposes of recording practice. All these files are presented as ZIP archives containing uncompressed WAV files (24-bit resolution and 44.1kHz sample rate) – when importing them, just make sure all the track files start at exactly the same moment in time within your DAW project. (Download problems?) I’ve included a preview full mix for easy auditioning while browsing through the list.

The backing stems have deliberately been generated using a minimum of mix processing, and often with a reduced track-count, to more accurately simulate a typical mid-project tracking session and to leave more room for creative additions while overdubbing. However, if you’d like more of the original multitrack parts in your own backing project, or you’d like more mixing control while tracking, follow the link to the respective multitrack-library listing. In addition to the audio stem files, I’ve also generated PDF documentation relating to each project, so you don’t have to create your own from scratch.

Many thanks to the artists and engineers who have kindly agreed to provide these files – please follow the links and check out their latest music! All downloads from this site are provided free of charge for educational purposes only, and the material contained in them should not be used for any commercial purpose without the express permission of the copyright holders.
